Do you suffer from itchy skin? These things can happen

One of the most common skin complaints there is: itchy skin . Everyone has problems with it and we all know how terrible it is to have itch. Did you know that the medical name of itching is pruritus? And just to talk about the definition of itching: itching is a sensation in the skin that gives the urge to scratch, rub or knock. Are you currently suffering from itchy skin? Read here what can be the matter... the post is here

Itchy Skin: Causes

1. Skin condition or skin disease. There are various skin conditions that cause itching. To name but a few examples: dry skin, eczema, hives or psoriasis.

2. Itching due to hypersensitivity. This is also called an allergy. You can be allergic to certain makeup, paint, nickel, foods or medicines, for example. If you find out what your body gives such an allergic reaction to, it is therefore best not to come into contact with it.

3. An insect bite or parasite. Think of the scab mite, head lice, pubic lice, body lice or insects that bite or sting, such as a mosquito.

4. Infections. For example, you may suffer from chicken pox or a fungal skin infection.

5. System diseases . This can be diabetes, a thyroid disease, a liver disease, leukemia, anemia, etc.

6. Pregnancy . Hormonal changes take place during pregnancy and this can also lead to dire itchiness caused by a congestion of the liver.

"Stop scratching: this means those itchy bumps on your skin"

7. A wound that heals. No matter how annoying itching is, at this point the itching is a positive sign. It means that the wound is healing.

If you suffer from prolonged itchy skin it is best to go to the doctor. They can then investigate what it could be. A tip to 'survive' this itch is to apply a cooling gel on it, for example. Also avoid woolen clothing, this aggravates it. And don't try to scratch.
